Penpal Exchange

Meet someone new, one letter at a time.

The Mellow Island Penpal Exchange is a snail mail matching experience designed to make meeting someone new feel a little more thoughtful.

For each exchange, you’ll be matched with an Islander to write to, while someone else will be matched to write to you. Introduce yourself, share what you’ve been up to, talk about something you love, or simply say hello.

Choose How to Participate

• One-Time Exchange: Participate in one round of the Penpal Exchange.
• Monthly Subscription: Stay enrolled in upcoming exchanges without signing up again each month. You can skip, pause, resume, or cancel at any time through your account.

Choose Your Delivery Method

• Direct Exchange: Your mailing address will be shared with the Islander matched to send you a letter.
• Private Mail Forwarding: Your incoming letter will be sent to Mellow Co. first and forwarded to you. The fee covers the postage, envelope, and mailing materials needed to forward your letter.
  • Choose Domestic if you live in the United States.
  • Choose International if you live outside the United States.

How It Works

1. Complete the form

After checkout, you’ll receive an email with a short form to provide the information needed for matching.

2. Receive your match

On matching day, you’ll receive the details of the Islander you’ll be writing to.

3. Write and send your letter

There is no required format. Make your letter as simple or creative as you’d like.

4. Check your mailbox

Another Islander will be writing a letter to you, too.

Every exchange is a chance to meet someone you may not have crossed paths with otherwise and make your mailbox feel a little less ordinary.

International Participation

The exchange is open to participants in the U.S. and internationally. International mail may take longer to arrive or experience delays, so please participate at your own discretion. Tracking is optional, and you may send your letter with or without it.
